Will Fredendall is a flutist of a new age.
Will Fredendall is a flutist, improviser, and composer from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. While attaining his Bachelor’s of Music degree at the New England Conservatory, he had the opportunity to study with renowned flute soloist Renee Krimsier as well as profound improvisers, such as Joe Morris, Jason Moran, Frank Carlberg, Jerry Bergonzi, and Ran Blake. Through these influences, Will has developed a unique sound that reaches the highest levels of intensity while searching for a singular expression of beauty.
Drawing from folkloric expression and contemporary extended techniques, he weaves a vivid story that transports listeners to a world outside our own—one that can only be reached with the music of the flute. Will Fredendall has a new album out with improviser and bassist, Diego Martinez. arko-íris is now out on all streaming platforms.
